SuperCoaches who have been using Hobart’s Mac Wright as a captaincy loophole will have to make alternative plans for Round 10 if he wins a re-call.

Wright has been included in the Hurricanes’ squad to face Sydney Sixers on Thursday in the first match of the Sixers double.

A $42,000 BAT-BWL, Wright made his BBL debut in Hobart’s loss to Melbourne Stars in Moe but has not featured since.

He has come into the Hurricanes squad at the expense of Simon Milenko, who has been dropped.

COULD COULTER-NILE RETURN LEAVE RAUF ON OUTER?

The table-topping Melbourne Stars will be boosted by the inclusion of Australian paceman Nathan Coulter-Nile for their Round 9 clash with Perth Scorchers.

Rested for the Stars victory over Sydney Sixers, Coulter-Nile returns to the 13-man squad in place of Jon Merlo.

His inclusion raises the possibility breakout paceman Haris Rauf could be rested.

It is expected Rauf will miss at least two games during the run home before being unleashed for finals.

However, the Pakistani quick has been named in the squad alongside Coulter-Nile and has travelled to Perth.

Rauf has reached $181,900 after starting the campaign at $42,000 and features in more than 20,000 SuperCoach teams.

RAIN FORECAST FOR DE VILLIERS’ BRISBANE DEBUT

AB De Villiers’ keenly-anticipated BBL debut could be delayed until January 17 with storms forecast for Brisbane on Tuesday.

The South African great is due to make the first of six appearances for the Heat on Tuesday afternoon, however thunderstorms are predicted to hit Brisbane.

The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting 2-10mm of rain in the Queensland capital with a 70 per cent chance of showers, most likely from the late morning.

The Heat are scheduled to face Adelaide Strikers from 3.40pm in De Villiers’ first match in Australia.

The former South African skipper is priced at $225,000 in SuperCoach BBL and has an average of 37.5 and a strike rate of 149.9 from 304 career T20s.

De Villiers has enjoyed a prolific year in Twenty20 cricket, compiling 348 runs at 69.6 in England’s Vitality Blast and 325 runs at 46.4 in South Africa’s Mzansi Super League.

He features in almost 5000 SuperCoach teams, despite being yet to debut.

Spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman ($158,200, BWL) will make his return to the Heat if the clash goes ahead.

The pair replaces Englishman Tom Banton and spinner Zahir Khan in the Brisbane squad.

Adelaide has travelled north with the same squad which claimed a crushing win over Melbourne Renegades.

HEAT KEEPING FANS GUESSING OVER LINE-UP

Matt Renshaw, Joe Burns and Chris Lynn are in contention to replace Tom Banton as opener for Brisbane Heat.

Englishman Banton, who has partnered Max Bryant throughout the opening half of BBL09, has been replaced by De Villiers in the Heat squad.

Lynn said on Monday De Villiers would bat “three or four” but was otherwise coy about how Brisbane could line-up once the South African slots into its side.

SCORCHERS LOCK IN GAME ONE TEAM

Perth Scorchers, the team in focus for SuperCoach Round 9, have confirmed their 13-man squad to face Hobart Hurricanes in the round’s opening game.

The Scorchers are unchanged from their 34-run triumph over Brisbane Heat.

Liam Guthrie and Matthew Kelly were the players who missed that win and Kelly’s replacement Joel Paris ($79,000) performed strongly, snaring 2-29 from four overs.

The left-armer, who played two one-day internationals for Australia in 2016, looms as the bargain of Perth’s double if he retains his spot for both games.

Paris has averaged 31.7 SuperCoach points in three games in BBL09.

The Hurricanes have named the same 13 which went down to Sydney Thunder by four wickets.
