THE BASICS
You have a $2 million salary cap to buy 17 players – two wicketkeepers, seven betters, seven bowlers and one Flex player who can be selected from any position – who score points based on their actions in real BBL matches.
Pick 12 of those to take the field each round, and the best 11 scores count – giving you one free throw at the stumps.
A few quick points to keep in mind:
– BAT-BWL players can be selected in either position, but the smart play is to stack your batting line with all-rounders, who score the most SuperCoach points. Players who bat high in the order and bowl at dangerous times – especially at the death, when wickets can tumble quickly – are the biggest stars in SuperCoach.
– In general bowlers score more than batters – even if you’re having a bad day with the ball you can jag a wicket (and 20 SuperCoach points) with one good delivery or a miscued slog. If a specialist batter cops a beauty first ball, his day can be over without troubling the SuperCoach scorers.
– The fixture is a key to SuperCoach BBL strategy, with some teams playing twice each round and others facing bye rounds during the season. The easiest tip is to pick more players from the teams that place twice. In round 1 that’s Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Sixers, so you’ll see a lot of names from those teams below. Hobart has another double in round 3, so don’t worry if half your team is purple.
Brisbane Heat, Sydney Thunder, Melbourne Stars and Perth Scorchers all have early doubles, so they are also good targets. A team like the Adelaide Strikers, on the other hand, is less appealing as their double doesn’t come around until round 7. You can buy a bunch of Strikers before then using your three trades each round – four if you activate one of two Trade Boosts.
But your starting team is where the road to glory begins. Let’s go!
