EXPERT TIPS: ROUND 2 TRADE GUIDE
LATE MAIL: STEYN OUT OF STARS OPENER
Even all-rounder Daniel Sams has managed to ammass 116 points from his two games despite being out for a first-ball duck in game one and not facing a ball against the Gades.
Here’s the stars who fired, and flopped, in the opening round of SuperCoach BBL.
GAME 1: BRISBANE HEAT V SYDNEY THUNDER
HEAT
Ben Cutting 81

Mark Steketee 52
Sam Heazlett 43
Ben Laughlin 39
Josh Lalor 36

Alex Ross 45
Chris Tremain 43
Usman Khawaja 36
Nathan McAndrew 21
Alex Hales 18
Matthew Gilkes 5
ON NOTICE
Zahir Khan: The Afghani spinner was tidy with 0-27, but the Thunder were happy to play him conservatively and he went wicket-less as a result. Will lose value from $169,000 without a big game two performance.
Chris Lynn: Lynn made nine from as many balls as the Heat’s big three battled in their season opener. Tempting to hold onto him for Round 2 when no teams have a double though.
Alex Hales: The Englishman doesn’t have a great record in the BBL and was caught for seven from eight balls.

Fawad Ahmed 38
Mitch Marsh 34
Matthew Kelly 15
Jhye Richardson 9
Ashton Agar 9
Ashton Turner 1
Cameron Bancroft 1
Liam Livingstone 0
ON NOTICE
Liam Livingstone: A disappointing start for those who planned ahead by picking the Scorchers’ new English opener. He was out early and didn’t bowl so will drop in value before his Round 3 double. You’ve got to ride it out until then now.
Daniel Hughes: Looks like he’s going to play the anchor role at the top alongside Philippe. He’s only one game into a double so little need to panic yet.
Ashton Agar: The Aussie T20 spinner got a decent chance to bat but couldn’t make an impact as the Scorchers were pummelled. He’s another player who will be a fair bit cheaper than his starting price come Round 3.
GAME 2: MELBOURNE RENEGADES V SYDNEY THUNDER
