Isa Guha reveals her KFC SuperCoach BBL team for BBL10

After relinquishing KFC SuperCoach BBL bragging rights in the commentary box last summer, Isa Guha is hellbent on regaining them. Check out her Round 1 team.

The English selectors have thrown me a huge KFC SuperCoach curve ball.

With BBL signings such as Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Dawid Malan, Liam Livingstone and Sam Billings named in England’s squads to tour South Africa, my KFC SuperCoach BBL plans have been up-ended.

Most of my compatriots won’t feature in the BBL until after Christmas once they complete mandatory quarantine.

And after a tough season last year the pressure is on to reclaim bragging rights in the Fox Sports commentary box from two summers ago.

Melbourne Stars have the all-important double in Round 1 and that means Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis and Nathan Coulter-Nile are locked into my side.

Maxwell is the prototype T20 player and will relish the conditions at Manuka Oval in Canberra, both with the batter friendly pitch and the large playing area with the ball.

For that reason, he’s my Round 1 captain.

The important thing in KFC SuperCoach is to be at least one or two moves ahead.

That’s why I have three Hurricanes — D’Arcy Short, Riley Meredith and Colin Ingram — in my starting side.

Short is one of the best scorers in KFC SuperCoach and is worth the high price tag.

Ingram will enjoy the short boundaries at Bellerive Oval, while Meredith was one of the best bowlers of BBL09 before he went down with injury.

It came down to him or Adam Zampa, but this approach means I can use my three trades for Round 2 on Adelaide Strikers, who share a double with the Hurricanes.

Shaun Marsh makes runs almost every time he features in the BBL, while Josh Lalor gives me a point-of-difference after providing key wickets at the Brisbane Heat last season.

Then it’s the all-rounders, Dan Christian and Ben Cutting, who are both cheap for their potential KFC SuperCoach scoring.

Glenn Maxwell is a top captaincy choice for Round 1.

Of the English players who have signed for BBL10, Jonny Bairstow is the player I’ll be trading in the moment he arrives.

He’s one of the most dynamic batsmen in the world and will form an ominous pairing with Stoinis at the top of the order for the Stars.

Lewis Gregory is the understudy to Ben Stokes in international T20 cricket and will look forward to the opportunity playing on Australian soil ahead of the T20 World Cup.

Jason Roy is a more intimidating proposition than last time he featured in the BBL, while Dawid Malan will arrive as the No. 1 T20 batsman in the world.

These English talents will be worth the wait so hopefully I’ve got enough money in my KFC SuperCoach bank to load my team with them after Christmas and ensure I beat Warney — at least.
