It might only be a warm-up game but with the first SuperCoach lockout fast approaching, every piece of information is vital.
Adelaide will kick off its BBL09 campaign on Saturday, while the Scorchers are in Sydney to take on the Sixers on Wednesday night.
Here’s what happened when the two sides met in a warm-up match at Karen Rolton Oval on Monday
Cam Bancroft (Scorchers)
$122,400, BAT, WKP
Pummled the Strikers attack to all parts of Karen Rolton Oval on his way to 68 off 44 balls. Bancroft hit eight boundaries – incuding four sixes – as he led the Scorchers to a winning total of 7/206.
Ashton Turner (Scorchers)
$127,400, BAT
Coming in at No. 5, the big-hitting Australian middle-order batsman joined Bancroft in a perfect warm-up the tournament-opener, clubbing 61 off 31 balls with five sixes.

Billy Stanlake (Strikers)
$108,300, BWL
The towering quick, who took 2/23 against Sri Lanka in the first T20 international of the summer, was the pick of the bowlers in Monday’s practice match. Stanlake - who recorded a team-high eight dot-balls - claimed three scalps, including the dangerous Turner, and conceded just 24 runs off his four overs.
Harry Conway (Strikers)
$42,000, BWL
In a great sign for SuperCoaches, Conway took a wicket in the second over of the day and had a tidy 1/17 to his name after two overs. But the NSW quick went for 31 in his next two overs, with Turner the main culprit. The 27-year-old is still a chance to see early action for the Strikers, however, with Peter Siddle in the mix to replace Josh Hazelwood in Australia’s Boxing Day Test side.
Wes Agar (Strikers)
$84,200, BWL
With 23 Shield wickets to his name so far this season, Strikers coach Jason Gillespie has hinted their will be a place for the exciting 22-year-old in his side to play the Thunder on Saturday. While he failed to take a wicket against the Scorchers, Agar was used at the death and finished with a respectable, given the hitting of Bancroft and Turner, 0/36 off his four overs.

Matt Short (Strikers)
$73,800, BAT
Took the new ball for the Strikers and finished with 1/51 off his four overs. And then came in at No. 4 at top-scored with 46 off 33 balls as Adelaide was all out for 149, re-inforcing his position as a terrific under-priced bench stash option for Round 1.
Liam O’Connor (Strikers)
$91,700, BWL
The spinner finished with 1/42 from his four overs but with Rashid Khan sitting out the practice match – and Matt Short offering another option with the ball – his place in the side to face the Thunder is questionable.
Cam Green (Scorchers)
$42,000, BAT, BWL
As expected, with Green unlikely to bowl during BBL09, his position in Perth’s batting line-up makes him a less-than-appealing SuperCoach prospect. The up-and-coming all-rounder came in at No. 7 – Ashton Agar walked to the crease at No. 6 with four overs remaining – and was run out without facing a ball.
Alex Carey (Strikers)
$139,900, BAT, WKP
In good news for SuperCoaches, the skipper batted at No. 3 – behind openers Jake Weatherald (10) and import Phil Salt (19) – and made 17 off 13 deliveries. Batting in that spot, the Australian limited-overs gun is almost a must-have for Adelaide’s back-to-back double-games in Rounds 3 and 4, despite Monday’s failure.
Ashton Agar (Scorchers)
$133,800, BAT, BWL
Came in at No. 6 - ahead of Green - and hit 17 off 10 deliveries late in Perth’s innings. But, more importantly, took three wickets with the ball and recorded eight dot-balls in his four overs.
Joel Paris (Scorchers)
$81,000, BWL
The left-arm quick took the new ball with Jyhe Richardason (0/33 off four overs) and impressed, taking 2/23 off three overs. Well-priced given his role in an undermanned Scorchers attack.
Liam Livingstone (Scorchers)
$125,000, BAT, BWL
He’s listed as a dual-position batsman-bowler in SuperCoach, after belting 1982 runs at a strike-rate of 139 and taking 29 wickets over his 85-game T20 career, but, in a surprise, the Englishman took the gloves for the Scorchers. And that was after being dismissed for a golden duck on the first ball of the day.
