Scott Boland has played his last Big Bash League game for Melbourne Stars with the fast bowler set to join Hobart Hurricanes.

The Herald Sun can reveal that Boland, 30, will soon be unveiled as Hobart’s new strike weapon, partnering emerging star Riley Meredith and England’s World Cup hero Jofra Archer.

Stars remained well-stocked for fast bowlers with Nathan Coulter-Nile joining from Perth Scorchers and South African great Dale Steyn set to light up the first half of the summer.

Boland’s 36 wickets in green ranks third in club history, behind only new Hurricanes teammate James Faulkner (44) and John Hastings (50).

But Boland fell out of favour in recent seasons as he floated in and out of the best eleven.

Hobart declined to confirm the signing although sources close to Boland said he was set to leave the Stars.

Boland, a proud indigenous cricketer, bowled 24 overs for Victoria in last week’s boring Sheffield Shield draw and was on Thursday selected for the Round 2 clash against Western Australia, which begins Friday.
