A GAMES boxer who allegedly threw a haymaker at bouncers but missed in a wild nightclub clash, has expressed his “deep embarrassment and remorse”.
One witness said “you could see why he didn’t win a medal” after Northern Ireland star Sean McComb’s alleged early morning meltdown at Sin City nightclub on Tuesday.
The boxer was removed from the athletes’ village as Northern Ireland officials launched an investigation.

He was hit with a $756 on-the-spot fine for public nuisance and police also banned him from the party precincts of Surfers and Broadbeach for 10 days.
The drama erupted after Sin City staff asked McComb, 25, who lost his quarter-final bout on Sunday, to leave the venue in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
McComb appeared to be arguing back to two security guards streetside as he was leaving the premises, a witness alleged.
A police statement said punches were thrown while the witness alleged: “He has taken a swing. But nothing connected.
“You could see why he didn’t win a medal.
“Then these two guards have restrained him, put him on the ground and the police arrived.
“It was all over pretty quickly.”
Northern Ireland team press attache Conal Heatley said a “pretty sheepish” McComb spent Tuesday away from the village “probably sleeping off quite a bit of a hangover”.
“He’s very embarrassed about what happened and has expressed his deep regret and remorse,” Heatley said.
“He’s feeling pretty sheepish. He knows that he screwed up and he knows the potential impact on the team.
“He’s staying outside the village, obviously not within the restricted areas (of Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach). We know where he is and we know he’s safe.
“The guy just needs a wee bit of space to sort himself out.”
Commonwealth Games Federation chief David Grevemberg said the CGF had “no tolerance” for bad behaviour by athletes.
“The right conduct, the right behaviour is expected of all of us.,” he said.
“We have no tolerance around issues like cheating and no tolerance around issues that are unbecoming of being great Commonwealth athletes and good citizens.”
Mr Grevemberg said the CGF was liaising with Northern Island officials during their investigation.
Sin City general manager Tim Martin added: “We can confirm that a patron was evicted from the venue last night and subsequently detained by Queensland Police.
“As it’s now a police matter, it’s not appropriate for us to comment further.”
