THE Commonwealth Games has proved a joyous affair for many, but none quite as much as basketball star Nicole Seekamp, who was proposed to after her big gold medal win.
Right after the Opals won the women’s basketball final Saturday night, Seekamp’s boyfriend dropped down on one knee court side in a heartwarming proposal broadcasted around the world.
Her American boyfriend Cody Havermann completely surprised the Adelaide Lightning player as she walked off the court, after beating England 99-55 in the final.
The 25-year-old athlete said yes as she embraced her fiance, before her team mates rallied around the happy couple.
“I was not expecting that so I guess thanks to Cody for stealing the limelight from everyone else,” Seekamp told Channel 7 afterwards.
“I had no idea what exactly was happening or when it was happening, he did a very good job so I was shocked, I cried and I don’t really cry that often, so that must have been a good sign.”
Seekamp and her beau celebrated into the night, uploading Instagram stories of a bottle of champagne with a letter of congrats from ‘Commonwealth Games Australia.’
