Channel 7’s rising reporting star Amanda Abate has stolen the broadcast spotlight during the network’s coverage of the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
The local Gold Coast reporter has been presenting the morning sport bulletins for Seven and doing live crosses from events for their national broadcasts.

On top of that, Abate is also reporting on general news for her local bulletin in the evenings.
But the rising star, who is exceedingly popular among viewers, isn’t feeling the pressure too much.
However a few live TV bloopers from the past are haunting her.
“Look the team’s great I’ve worked with them before for Rio and Olympics coverage,” she said.
“It’s really good to see the Gold Coast shining.
“I didn’t really know what to expect but it’s exceeded my expectations.
“I lost my voice once on live TV and squeaked my way through it but so far for the Games it’s been smooth sailing.”
Abate, who spent two years working in Sydney but returned to her home patch on the Gold Coast in 2015, has had a meteoric rise in the industry thanks to her journalistic talent and bubbly personality, which saw her become the face of Magic Millions in 2016.
But despite her busy diary and important schedule life outside of work, Abate hasn’t let her profile get to her head.
She remembers her days fondly interning for News Corp on the Gold Coast with big dreams to excel in journalism.
“I ride my push bike to work,” she laughed.
“Yes I was an intern at the paper. I remember it being so scary at the time diving into the deep end.
“I’m very lucky to be where I am now. I love my job.”
