HE’S a multi-millionaire American film director, but Dustin Lance Black claims he was accused of shoplifting a protein shake at a Gold Coast Woolworths, according to his Twitter page.
The famous husband of British diver Tom Daley, who is on the Coast to support his partner during the Commonwealth Games, posted an angry rant on social media claiming he was stopped and his bag was searched at the Surfers Paradise supermarket.

“OMG! Was just stopped & accused of shoplifting @woolworths in the Gold Coast!” he wrote.
“Then out of countless folks with bags a search was demanded of mine.
“Thanks for the warm welcome to #AUSTRALIA @woolworths! Respect customers’ privacy much? Shame.”
Black, 43, who is best known for his work on the Academy Award winning 2008 film Milk, copped criticism for the tweet, with many pointing out that it was a condition of entry customers could be searched at any time.
But Black claimed he was treated like a “criminal” for “no reason”.
“So targeting & treating people as criminals for absolutely no reason & w/ (sic) no explanation (even when asked), chasing them down as they leave the store (after having made a purchase) & accusing them of a crime is the norm in AU or just @woolworths? Vile way to treat people.
“All I wanted was a banana flavored (sic) protein shake after a little mid day workout!”
A Woolworths spokesman said bag checks were part of normal procedures.
“Like many retailers, our teams will ask to check customer bags from time to time. We always aim to do this in a respectful way,” the spokesman said.
Black and Daley announced in February they were expecting their first child this year.
