Others set to take part in the Optus event include model Erin Holland, AFL great Barry Hall, Olympic gold swimmer Melanie Shlanger and News Corp columnist and Nova radio host Jonathon Moran.
A preliminary event was held on March 1, which saw the event won by Tuqiri and Nicodemou disqualified for cheating.
“It is such a thrill to have the Commonwealth Games come to Australia,” Holland told Games Confidential.
“I grew up with a sport mad family, and many of my most memorable family moments included watching live sport such as the Comm Games. I’m incredibly proud that my home state will be showcased on the world stage for the next few weeks.”
Holland added of competing in the Splashies event: “It was always a closet dream of mine to win a medal for my country, so getting to swim during an actual Commonwealth Games is out of this world for me. As the under 11 breaststroke Champion of my Cairns primary school, the Splashies competitors best be prepared for some stiff competition.”
