CHARLIE Taylor copped his share of ribbing when he took up modelling.

But days out from competing in the Commonwealth Games, the ripped Rugby Sevens player says his team mates came round to appreciating his work in front of the camera.

“I got so much criticism and had to think if it was something I wanted to do,” he explained. “But as time went on, they saw it was working and people were liking what I was doing and I started to get some paid jobs from it and that is when the ball went in my court and all of the guys understand and back me with it.”

“I posted a few shots online and people started to reach out to me,” he said. “It all went from there. After I posted a few images, I went to my locker and all the guys were there, these big units were standing there staring at me,” he explained. “I opened my locker up and every picture I took on a modelling shoot was printed and pasted inside and outside of my locker. They all had their phones out there recording me and one of the guys had a broom stick out pretending it was a selfie stick.”

Meanwhile, Taylor believes Australia’s Rugby Sevens are a good chance for gold at the Commonwealth Games despite the tragic king hit incident with James Stannard that saw him ruled out of competition.

“It is costly,” he said. “He is a crucial player for us. But damaging as much as it is, we are going in there to do a good job. I believe we are going to win (gold) 100 per cent.”

Stannard, 35, was coward punched just after 3am Saturday morning outside a Coogee kebab shop when walking home from drinks to celebrate coach Andy Friend, who recently announced he is leaving his post with the team.
