Jazzy Parr eyes world title revenge mission on the Gold Coast within six months

She is the daughter of Australian kickboxing royalty, but Jasmine Parr has revenge for another legend of Australian combat sport on her mind as she forges ahead in her boxing career.

Jasmine ‘Jazzy’ Parr wants to launch an Aussie revenge mission against the Fundora family with a world title blockbuster on the Gold Coast within six months.

The Gold Coast local is on a collision course with IBF flyweight world champion Gabriela Fundora, who is the younger sister of Sebastian Fundora, who beat Tim Tszyu in a bloody world title showdown in March.

BOXING: NIKITA TSZYU V MAZOUDIER | WED 28 AUG 7PM AEST | Order Now with Main Event on Kayo Sports.

The daughter of Aussie fighting icon John-Wayne Parr, Jazzy fights on the undercard of Nikita Tszyu’s pay-per-view headliner in Sydney on Wednesday night, but has Fundora firmly in her sights.

And winning the IBF title on home soil, while gaining revenge for Tszyu’s defeat, is squarely in her sights.

“That would be a great fight – I actually thought about it when I watched that fight,” Parr told this masthead. “It’s something on the cards and the fans would love.

“She’s strong, she’s got good technique and has a good family behind her. But I’ve got a great family behind me.

“I know it would be a great fight – one of the best.”

Currently 5-0 as a professional boxer, the 21-year-old Parr can break into the world rankings over the next few months, and push to fight Fundora as soon as early 2025.

“That would be amazing,” he said. “I want to be the best there is.

“I’m on the right path and I’m just taking it day-by-day, but with all these fights, we’re heading towards getting a world ranking.

“I want to be one of the best females of all time.

“Fighting on home turf, I’ll have all the locals, the family and friends, it would be amazing.

“I was born into the pressure of being a Parr, so I deal with it well. This is where I thrive, this is my atmosphere and energy.

“When you love something like this, you can’t fail.”

No Limit CEO George Rose said the IBF option against Gabriela Fundora makes sense, but that Parr could fight for the WBA belt too.

“Australians have beef with the Fundoras,” Rose said. “They’re a talented fighting family, but so is the Parr family.

“Jazzy’s good enough, she’s world class and she comes from good stock.

“Looking at the WBA world champ as well, I wouldn’t put it past Jazzy to get in the ring and mix it with her.

“I’m mindful of her talent and of how short the path is to a world title is in women’s boxing.

“We want to take the Jazzy Parr journey all the way to the top.”

Rose said it’s a no-brainer to have a Parr world title fight on the Gold Coast too.

“She’s a Gold Coast local, so it has to be up there doesn’t it?” Rose said. “Any chance to have a fight on the Gold Coast.”
