Sam Goodman has taken diet tips from an NRL legend as he prepares an all out assault on Chainoi ‘Rock Man’ Worawut.

A fired-up Sam Goodman is on a seek and destroy mission against Chainoi “Rock Man” Worawut as he looks to make good on what No Limit CEO George Rose calls a “$100 million gamble” on Wednesday night.

The undefeated Albion Park boxer has even taken diet tips from Roosters legend Anthony Minichiello as he looks to move a step closer to a super-bantamweight world title blockbuster against Naoya Inoue later in the year.

Goodman, 25, is risking his mandatory world title challenger status in the fight on Wednesday night’s fight but that won’t change his approach – he is promising pure aggression.

“I have to go and find all my opponents. Name a fight where I’ve ever taken a step back,” Goodman said after he and Worawut made weight on Tuesday.

“I go at all these guys, I put on the pressure, and they start moving.

“I think I will be tracking him down, like I do with all my fights.

“I don’t think I owe anyone a statement or message but I’m coming out with a bit of nastiness.

“As far as sending messages, everyone knows why I’m in the position I am, because I’m a good fighter.

“As far as messages go, I couldn’t be arsed.”

With so much on the line, Goodman isn’t leaving anything to chance and has sought out Roosters legend and health guru Minichiello for diet tips.

“He spent 10 minutes the other day talking to Anthony Minichiello about diets,” Goodman’s manager Pete Mitrevski said.

“Minichiello is like the unofficial dietitian of the Roosters.

“Sam was at the Roosters-Dragons game and he met Mini. They were talking about diets and how Minichiello gets his blood testing done.

“Sam is always trying to find an extra edge. Boxing is not just a science, the nutritional side of things is just as critical.

“He is ripped like no tomorrow. It’s the best I’ve seen him by far. He has gone to the next level.”

But it’s his work with Volkanovski’s nutritionist Jordan Sullivan, known as The Fight Dietitian, that has Goodman primed to put on a dominant performance.

“It was just a bit more structured,” he said. “It’s still a cut, and you’ve still gotta cut the weight, but it’s a lot more structured and something I followed every meal during camp.”

Sullivan, who has worked with Volkanovski for years, was impressed with Goodman’s work ethic.

“When you get to the very top of the boxing, everything matters,” he said.

“You don’t only have to be a great boxer, you have to be on top of your recovery, diet and weight cut.

“Sam used to start his weight cut process weeks before a fight. Now with this plan, he is only suffering for three or four days.

“Sam has been very diligent, I can’t be happier with how he has responded.”

Rose was a nervous man on Tuesday over a fight night that is a nine-figure risk.

“In the big scheme of things, it’s $100 million,” he said. “When he beats Inoue, he becomes the million-dollar man, he becomes the big fighter who can draw those big crowds and big purses.

“It’s more than one, two or three million, there’s a hell of a lot more than that, and it’s all going on the line in this fight.”

On the undercard of the pay-per-view card on Wednesday, Youssef Dib missed the lightweight limit by 400gm for his grudge match against Liam Wilson.

Dib said the scales used at the official weigh-ins must not have been calibrated correctly and he was given two hours to drop the excess weight.

“We’re professional. Then there’s that,” Wilson said as he gestured towards Dib. “Lose the weight.”

Dib eventually made the weight after half an hour on the treadmill back at the hotel.

He was spotted 90 minutes later checking his weight on scales in the driveway in front of the hotel.
