AUSTRALIAN mixed martial arts fighter Anthony Perosh has spent quite literally 21 seconds inside the UFC's octagon in the last year.
Yesterday at UFC 163 in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, Perosh (14-7 MMA, 4-2 UFC) made his long awaited return to the cage against fellow jiu-jitsu specialist Vinny Magalhaes (10-7 MMA, 1-4 UFC).
Their fight lasted just 14 seconds.
Perosh landed a solid right-hand in the pair's first exchange which put Magalhaes on wobbly legs. Perosh smelt blood and continued his assault as Magalhaes tried to pull guard, but the 40-year-old Aussie landed another 10 clean punches before referee Mario Yamasaki called an end to the bout.
It was a great win for Perosh, who in his last fight against Ryan Jimmo, was knocked out in just seven seconds.
It was the Sydney fighter's first appearance in the cage this year after gruesomely breaking his toe in a training accident in late 2012.
In the main event at UFC 163, reigning featherweight champion Jose Aldo knocked out challenger Chan Sung Jung in the fourth round of their five-round title fight.
And in the co-main event Phil Davis controversially defeated Lyoto Machida by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).
Just under 14,000 people attended the event.
