How to play SuperCoach NBL fantasy basketball in 2024: Beginners guide

A new SuperCoach season is almost here.

The first game of the new NBL season is Thursday night – and that means it’s time to get your team in for the biggest fantasy game in town.

New (or late) to the game? Don’t panic – follow this simple guide to have a team in minutes.

A SuperCoach NBL squad is made up of four guards (two on court, two on the bench), two centres (one on court, one on the bench) and four guards (two on court, two on the bench). The names below are based on expert advice, past performances and form in the NBL Blitz pre-season tournament.

Remember. all coaches have unlimited trades until the end of round 1, then you can use two each week (three if you use a Trade Boost) to prepare your team for each round, cover injuries and improve our squads.

A couple of things to note:

1. Some players are listed as dual-position, which means they can be selected in either of their listed positions. For example a GRD/CTR can be picked as a guard or centre. It’s a good idea to have a few of these players to give your squad extra flexibility.

2. Bench players’ scores count towards your weekly total – a unique feature of SuperCoach NBL. You will get full scores from your five on-court starters and 50 per cent of scores from players on the bench.

3. The schedule is key to success in SuperCoach NBL. Every team plays once in round 1 but in round 2 Melbourne United, Sydney Kings, South East Melbourne Phoenix and Illawarra Hawks all play twice, giving players from those teams twice as many opportunities to score points. So it could be smart to pick a few of them in your starting squad.

OK, let’s go.
