Shot clock: Quickfire guide to setting up your SuperCoach NBL team for round 12

After some early doubts it’s time to back in the Bullets – while one player is a must-have regardless of the schedule. Here’s how to get your team set for round 12.

That’s the question facing SuperCoaches when they plot their trades for round 12.

Moving in either direction could result in a points windfall, but which is the right way to go?

Check out these tips to get the biggest score this week.

ON THE DOUBLE

The schedule is the key to SuperCoach NBL success. Targeting players from teams that play twice in a round will give you twice as many opportunities to score points.

In round 12 there are four teams on the double: Brisbane Bullets, Melbourne United, NZ Breakers and SEM Phoenix.

The other team to keep a laser focus on is Adelaide 36ers, who have a single in round 12 but back it up with six doubles in the next seven rounds. And they also have two of the biggest scorers in the game, who also happen to be the two of the three most expensive players in SuperCoach NBL – Kendric Davis and Montrezl Harrell.

Finding a way to get one, or both, before Adelaide’s incredible schedule run is a high priority, and many coaches won’t be able to afford to wait – Davis gained more than $45,000 in value after a massive 66-point return in his comeback game (a single!), and is projected by SuperCoach Plus to add another $32,000 to his price tag after his next game.

At the same time, it’s hard to overlook Bullets like Tyrell Harrison and Casey Prather, fresh off scores of 76 and 81 in round 11 – both on the double this week and both more than $100k cheaper than Davis. Brisbane has already had two doubles in a row, but plays twice in each of the next six rounds, so there is still plenty of time to cash in.

Meanwhile, Melbourne has its second double in a row before a single-game round, while NZ is about to play the third week in their run of four straight doubles. Buying Breakers is still a viable play, be we all have Parker Jackson-Cartwright by now, surely!

When it comes to who to trade out, will Perth Wildcats please form an orderly queue.

Injured guard Kristian Doolittle is front of the line after suffering a groin injury moments into Perth’s first game of round 11 and finishing with a disastrous zero points from the double game round.

Teammates like Ben Henshall and Elijah Pepper can also be safely cashed in. Keeping Bryce Cotton for another week is perfectly viable given his scoring power, but if he’s your ticket to a super scoring guard on a double – or Davis – these are the big calls we have to make.

CAPTAIN CALL

Jack White was last week’s most traded in player, and he repaid the faith with 80 points on Melbourne United’s double – and they have another double this week. Parker Jackson-Cartwright was unusually quiet in the first game of New Zealand’s double (18 points) but never plays two bad games in a row – piling on 42 points in game two. The Breakers are also on the double again in round 12. So are the Bullets – Casey Prather and Tyrell Harrison both featured in the top-five scorers of round 11, can they back it up?
