Australian basketball star Ben Simmons has once again become a punching bag on social media with an upload brutally trolling him.

It may be the NBA off-season, but Australian star Ben Simmons has been brutally trolled on social media.

The 27-year-old has long come under fire from basketball fans and he was once again the target in a post on X.

A one minute video was uploaded to social media showing off the part 2 of the top 10 luckiest shots in NBA history.

The video shows some truly remarkable buckets made throughout the history of league with Andre Miller sinking a one-handed heave from three-quarter court.

Trevor Booker makes the list with his bucket scoop shot at number four, Ja Morant takes out third with an absurd catch and shoot before the buzzer while Isaiah Rider’s outrageous heave over his shoulder takes out second spot.

Enter Ben Simmons who takes out the top spot on the list in what is a brilliant piece of trolling.

After watching some truly one-in-a-million shots, Simmons is listed at number one … for hitting a regulation three-point jump shot.

In six seasons in the league Simmons has attempted 36 shots from beyond the arc in 332 games, of those attempts he’s only found the bottom of the net five times.

Simmons has become a punching bag among the basketball world with his offensive struggles stealing the show.

Over the course of the past two seasons however it has been his inability to get on the court that has become the biggest talking point.

Simmons has played in only 57 games over the course of the past three seasons as he fights a host of injuries.

The Aussie star came under fire from basketball fans in May when he appeared alongside a host of celebrities at The Met Gala.

Simmons was invited to the Manhattan’s Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York but his outfit quickly saw him become a laughing-stock online.

Simmons accessorised his outfit with rose coloured glasses, an orange watch and the piece de resistance — a briefcase with a clock on the front.

The clock showed the time around 4:30 but it may as well have been a quarter to midnight, given Simmons’ professional basketball career is all but over.

Basketball fans had a field day on social media poking fun at his Met Gala look, especially the heavy jacket and clock.

No Dunks podcaster J.E. Skeets wrote on X: “Time heals all back problems.”

The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor joked: “Ben Simmons in mid-season form at Met Gala.”

The Barstool Sports account posted: “Ben Simmons spent more time on the Met Gala red carpet than the court this year.”

Complex Style tweeted: “Ben Simmons is playing no games. An early contender for best-dressed man at the 2024.”

Madeline Hill said: “The clock is counting the time since Ben Simmons was a basketball player.”

David Eickholt added: “Ben Simmons plays no games on or off the court.”

Simmons, who was born in Melbourne, has one year left on his lucrative NBA contract that will see him earn $US40.3 million ($A60.8 million).

At this stage it’s highly unlikely Simmons will get another contract after his five-year $177 million deal comes to an end.
