Tasmania JackJumpers championship-winning star Jack McVeigh has realised a childhood dream after making his NBA debut with Houston on Thursday.
After signing a two-day deal with the Rockets, McVeigh played the last two minutes of Houston’s 127-100 home win over the Spurs, which improved them to 5-3 for the season.
McVeigh went 0-3 from the field, but it’s a moment he’s worked hard to earn as he spends most of his time at G-League level.
It continued a dream few months for the forward, who was named the grand final MVP after several clutch moments in the JackJumpers’ epic 3-2 series win over Melbourne United.
Also named the JackJumpers’ MVP, he forced his way onto the Boomers’ Olympic team and showed enough to earn a chance in the sport’s biggest league.

McVeigh’s Olympic teammate Jock Landale had a solid game, scoring 11 points and racking up six rebounds in the blowout victory.
The 28-year-old’s most memorable moment in a Rockets singlet thus far was a jump shot which forced a pre season game at Oklahoma City into overtime, which they went on to win.
Tasmania has struggled in its title defence thus far without McVeigh, slumping to 3-7 after losses to South-East Melbourne and Sydney Kings last weekend.
Against the Kings they scored their lowest total in the franchise’s short history of 60.
The JackJumpers will be looking to upset a Wildcats outfit minus their talisman Bryce Cotton in Perth tonight from 9.30pm AEDT.
