Boomers v Team USA player ratings

The Boomers turned in an inconsistent perfomance against Team USA but a couple of players stood out. See who starred and who struggled in the blockbuster clash.

Boomers vs Team USA: Fans have trouble watching in crowd

Player ratings for the Boomers against Team USA at Marvel Stadium on Thursday night:

Jock Landale - 6

Has a knock on his defence and speed but, like his offensive game, is developing on the other side of the ball. A couple of nice blocks to go with a well-rounded 10 points and seven boards. Has a bright future in green and gold.

Chris Goulding - 9

You just knew he was going to turn it on in his own territory and the shot was falling for CG43. Came off the bench and sparked the Aussies in the first quarter, then brought them back from a double digit deficit in the second. You can never have too many good shooters – wonder if an NBA scout will take notice?

Nathan Sobey - 2

Didn’t play until the game was all over, but pressed his case for more minutes, making both his shots in junk time.

Cam Gliddon - 1

Didn’t play until the final quarter.

Mitch Creek - 3

Tried his guts out as you’d expect him to, but it didn’t amount to much in limited minutes.

Nick Kay - 1

Played 11 minutes and returned 0 points, 0 rebounds, 0 assists, 0 steals and 0 blocks. We’re not in Perth anymore, Toto.

Aron Baynes - 6

Wound back the clock to the 2018 NBA playoffs with a pair of deep three balls and was his usual defensive beast down low, but was outclassed by the likes of Turner and Co.

Andrew Bogut - 6

That big guy passing. It’s always been the most attractive feature of the big Aussie’s game and it was on show tonight with five dimes. Looked at home against NBA talent, as you’d expect, but would like more than three boards on Saturday.

Joe Ingles - 3

Sadly a forgettable night for the Utah Jazz cult figure. First three-point attempt grazed the rim and it was downhill from there. Finished a game-worst -23.

Matthew Dellavedova - 6

Five turnovers to six assists means Delly needs to take care of the ball better. Finished with 10 points, but the Aussies need more out of him as a running mate to Mills in the back court.

Patty Mills - 8

The only NBAer who had a big impact on the game with 19 points. Opened the Boomers’ scoring with a three-pointer and hit a big shot on the half-time buzzer to cut the margin to one point. The only consistent scoring threat besides Goulding. Could have been more efficient.
