LEBRON James played his first game in his second incarnation as a Cavalier — but Aussie teammate Matthew Dellavedova claimed top billing on the highlight reel.

Dellavedova’s spinning, buzzer-beating shot to end the first quarter against Israeli side Maccabi Tel Aviv was replayed across the US today and prompted an outpouring of praise on social media.

Cavs coach David Blatt played Dellavedova for more than 16 minutes as back-up to starting guard Kyrie Irving.

James, meanwhile, was used sparingly in his first game of the pre-season. He managed 12 points, four rebounds and four assists in 19 minutes.

“I’ve said this before and I say it sincerely: We’re a new team,” Blatt told reporters after the game.

“Now, that’s not to say we’re not an extremely strong team on paper. We are. I know that.

“These are teams that have been together, that have continuity coming into the season, that have great players and great coaches themselves. Right now, we’re a team in a building mode. We’ll see in a few months how much we are a team to beat.”
