The battle of the quarterbacks – Mahomes vs Hurts

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes claimed the early victory ahead of the big game when he edged out Eagles playmaker Jalen Hurts to win the MVP.

The showdown between the two will mark the first time in NFL history that two black quarterbacks have squared off in the Super Bowl.

Hurts and the Eagles have taken the league by storm throughout the 2022/23 season with the supremely talented 24-year-old out to claim his first Super Bowl crown.

Mahomes on the other hand has been the leading man in the NFL for years with his offensive exploits continually leaving fans in awe. A win on Monday would give him his second victory at the pinnacle.

If the Chiefs want to get a hand on Hurts and slow him down, they’re going to have to go through left tackle Jordan Mailata.

The Aussie monster has taken his talents to insane heights this season and become a massive piece of the Eagles’ puzzle.

Mailata’s performance on Monday will go a long way to determining the outcome of the contest. If he cannot only keep Hurts’ blindside safe, but help creates holes for the Eagles’ running backs the Aussie could be saluting on the main stage.

Joining him will be former St Kilda player Arryn Siposs who joined the Eagles as a punter was a revelation early in the season.

A late season injury saw him placed on the injured reserve list and left him locked in a race against the clock to prove his fitness to take part in the NFL’s biggest game.

Siposs wasn’t going to be denied and was activated off the IR list, making him eligible to be picked to play on Monday in Arizona.
