‘Holy s***’: Blockbuster $191m trade rocks NFL to its core in major Aaron Rodgers twist

The biggest bombshell of the NFL free agency period has dropped, and it’s one that Aaron Rodgers reportedly knew about all along.

In a bombshell that has stunned the NFL, star wide receiver Davante Adams is moving from the Green Bay Packers to the Las Vegas Raiders.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Adams is being traded to the Las Vegas Raiders for two 2022 picks, including the Raiders’ first-round pick.

Adams will be getting monster money at the Raiders too, with NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reporting that the star wide receiver has inked a five-year, AU$191 million deal at an average of $37m a year.

At the Raiders, Adams will be reunited with Derek Carr as the pair played for Fresno State in college.

The 29-year-old said last year in June that “it would be a dream” to play alongside Carr again and he’s now got his wish.

“I’ll just continue to be me and just let this thing kind of work itself out and see what happens,” Adams told ABC30.

“Obviously, I love Derek to death.

“We’ve got a great friendship and we still communicate really, really consistently.

“He’s one of my best friends. Obviously it would be a dream to be able to play with him.

“But I’m a Packer now. Until that point when we make that decision, I guess we just gotta, we’ll see what happens.”

While many fans were quick to wonder just how Packers QB Aaron Rodgers would cope with the news of losing his top receiver, it has been claimed that the reigning MVP knew that this outcome would arrive.

Rapoport tweeted: “While Aaron Rodgers was negotiating his contract, he knew Davante Adams would never play for the Packers again. The situation was too far gone. Something had to give. And when Adams informed GB he wasn’t playing on the tag, talks got fired up. Now, Adams will be on the Raiders.”

Speaking to the Packers’ website last year, Rodgers claimed that Adams could soon find himself in conversations relating to the Hall of Fame given his absurd individual success.

“I’ve played with some incredible players but the kind of dominance that I’ve seen from Davante warrants that type of praise,” Rodgers said.

“I’ve played with some great receivers over the years and appreciated the different skillsets that they brought to the table.

“But I feel like the way Davante’s been playing the last few years, it’s something that I haven’t quite seen during my 17 years.”
