WESTERN Bulldogs captain Bob Murphy says the feeling in the rooms following injuries to Mitch Wallis and Jack Redpath is something he will never forget.

The Bulldogs lost Wallis with a severely broken leg while Redpath ruptured his ACL in last week’s match against St Kilda.

Western Bulldogs players were in the rooms while Wallis was being taken to an ambulance.

Wallis was in severe pain.

“I’ve been playing for 17 years at AFL level and, in my whole life, basically it is not something I’ve ever encountered,” Murphy said on AFL 360.

“Speaking with people in the football club, it is nothing they have encountered either. Sometimes you get hurt playing footy but this was something different.

“The fact that Mitch was still in the rooms and in a lot of distress, it just heightened it.

“It is kind of off the radar for what you’re prepared for as a footballer. To be in the meeting room, listening to our coach who was distressed himself, to then hear one of your football brothers in agony was something that will take a long time, if ever … I’m not sure I’ll ever forget it.”

Murphy said the Bulldogs would continue to fight despite the injuries.

The club will take on Geelong this week.

“We have been a resilient team and a resilient club and that just tests that a little bit more,” he said.

Saturday night was the third time Redpath has injured his ACL.

He is expected to miss up to a year of football.

Murphy also confirmed he has started running for the first time since suffering his own ACL injury earlier in the season.
