Michael Voss remains in contention for the North Melbourne coaching job
North Melbourne continues to hone its list of coaching candidates. Despite Michael Voss not participating in a full-blown interview process, he remains in the mix.
Michael Voss remains in contention for the North Melbourne senior role despite his unwillingness to participate in a full-blown interview process.
The Roos continue to hone their list of candidates for their vacant role but are in no particular hurry given they hope to have the position filled by late November.
Voss has made clear having missed several roles in recent seasons he does not want to be a high-profile participant in a role he could eventually miss.
North Melbourne is aware of his stature and credentials so could decide at a later date having interviewed other candidates that it wants to bring him in for a final interview.
St Kilda’s Alan Richardson was hired by the club in a similar way while at Port Adelaide as an assistant coach, with premiership coach Mark Williams the nominal coach until the last few days.

He told the Herald Sun’s Sacked podcast he asked for a long-term deal which made St Kilda wary.
Then Richardson was parachuted in at the last minute and became St Kilda’s coach.
North Melbourne has made clear it has no preordained ideas about what kind of coach it wants, keen to canvas the industry for the best candidate regardless of age or experience.
Updates
Dogs delist three players
GLENN McFARLANE
The Western Bulldogs have delisted the club's 2018 leading goalkicker Billy Gowers as part of four list changes heading into next season.
Fergus Greene and Brad Lynch were also informed they would not be offered new contracts, while premiership forward Tory Dickson retired back in September.
Gowers managed only three AFL games this year, taking his tally to 33 games and 39 goals from his time at the Whitten Oval.
His first senior season at the club saw him kick 26 goals from 20 games in 2018, winning the club's goal kicking award in that season.
The 24-year-old had joined the Dogs via the rookie draft, with the club thanking him for his service to the club on Friday.
“Billy, Fergus and Brad have each made important contributions on and off the field in their time at our football club,” Bulldogs list manager Sam Power said.
“We thank them for their commitment and wish them the best for the future.” Lynch, 23, played nine AFL games in 2018, while Greene, 22, also played five games for five goals in 2018.
Suns, Dons in talks over Wright
RUSSELL GOULD
Gold Coast are likely to send unwanted big man Peter Wright to Essendon for future picks and are open to trading their pick five in this year's draft for the right deal.
Suns list manager Craig Cameron also removed his club from the conversation over Collingwood midfielder Adam Treloar, telling Trade Radio the Magpie “doesn't have any interest in coming here".
Cameron said the Bombers were the only club they were talking to about 24-year-old Wright, who didn’t play a single senior game in 2020 after 66 in his first five seasons.
"We're really just talking to Essendon, they've made the play on that," Cameron said.
"Conversations with them are going pretty well at the moment."
Cameron said Gold Coast would likely take it's current No.5 to the draft, but were more interested in selections in 2021.
"We'd be happy to (take pick 5 to the draft), but we'd also be happy to try and move further up the draft as well,” he said.
“I don't think there's a player that we'd use it on."
Trade buzz: Why Esava is the anti-Josh Dunkley
Geelong’s Esava Ratugolea is the anti-Josh Dunkley, prepared to own his poor form and win back his spot in the Cats line-up even as Jeremy Cameron comes into the team.
Ratugolea has had his name raised by GWS in the Cameron trade as well as many rival clubs who believe he might be surplus to requirements from now on at the Cats.
But he will back himself in, with the 22-year-old loving Geelong and relishing the challenge of still playing in the Cats side.
He played a dozen games for the Cats but none of the finals, with a series of niggles hampering him as Geelong continued to say they were keen for him to peak for the finals.
It never eventuated, with Ratugolea still taking 17 contested marks for the year.

The Western Bulldogs were blindsided by Josh Dunkley's trade request and say it is up to Essendon to come up with an offer that could involve two first-round draft picks.
List manager Sam Power said today Dunkley was still considered a required player at Whitten Oval but didn't rule out a trade before next Thursday's deadline.
"He's part of our leadership group and someone we planned to be an integral part (of our club) going forward. We'd extended (his contract) by three years halfway through the 2019 season, and that obviously demonstrated how he felt about the club and what we felt about him going forward," Power said on Trade Radio.
"Our priority is definitely to keep him, he's obviously come out yesterday, through Liam (Pickering, Dunkley's manager), and said his preference is to go to Essendon, so we have to now be open to different situations. We'll work through that with Essendon, but our preference and our position hasn't changed in Josh's importance to the club and us wanting him to remain a Western Bulldogs player."
Power said he was still hopeful Dunkley would change his mind but if he was to leave in a trade the deal would have to come with "a premium".
He said he had "low level discussions" with the Bombers in recent days.
"I've had a couple of chats to Adrian Dodoro, at this stage nothing has been presented to us in a formal sense.
"When a club has come and tried to get a player out with two years left on his contract it's really up to that club to present that to us in this case, so we can only really deal with the facts that are in front of us and are they are today Josh is a required player."
Power confirmed the Bulldogs' interest in Brisbane ruckman Stefan Martin and Melbourne forward Mitch Hannan.

Essendon list boss Adrian Dodoro is set for a crazy week as he tries to negotiate deals for Josh Dunkley, Adam Saad, Jye Caldwell and more.
And Herald Sun trade expert Jon Ralph says the Bombers are also shopping for a key forward after delisting Shaun McKernan – who was signed today by St Kilda as an unrestricted free agent.
"I know some people will say why wouldn't Essendon have got a pick for him, but he was a player who was not likely to be offered a contract so whether it happens now as a free agent or in a month, it gets him off Essendon's books" he said on Trade TV.
"But Essendon clearly need to bring in someone because right now they just ain't got any players out there who have picked more than 1.5 goals a game since back in 2017 when Joe Daniher was a star, and we all know Joe Daniher is not going to be there next year."

What are the Dockers doing?
Fremantle footy boss Peter Bell has covered a number of interesting topics on Trade Radio:
Jordan Clark
"We are monitoring that situation. He's contracted and until we get an indication that he'd be interested (in joining the Dockers) we're happy to honour that contract."
Connor Blakely
"We had a really open and honest conversation and Connor was really frustrated that he didn't get the opportunities in that midfield group.
"With that discussion there came an agreement that if he wanted to have a look around we were more than hpapy for him to do so, but we haven't heard anything from Connor or his management at this stage that he would like to go somewhere else."
David Mundy
"We've been having regular discussions with Dave. I suppose at the start of the year at 34-35 years of age we were thinking this year would be his last, but he just performed so well … he ended up finishing fifth in our best and fairest.
"I'm sure that over the next few weeks, maybe even days, we'll come to an arrangement for him to play on."
Jesse Hogan
"It really wans't working for him in Western Australia.
"I've already mentioned, and it's really obvious, that we gave up some really good draft picks for Jesse, but it hasn't worked out.
"We wish Jesse all the best, but having Jesse walk away from his contract frees up some TPP space and a spot on our list.
Draft plans?
Bell said the Dockers were looking at options to push higher in the draft to nab gun WA forward Logan McDonald, but acknowledged their chances are "remote".
"We've got pick 12 at the moment. One thing we won't be doing is trading any of our young players. We see players like Adam Cerra, Andrew Brayshaw and Hayden Young as cornerstones of our team for the next decade."
