PORT Adelaide players have gone from the flavour of the month to SuperCoach poison.
For the first month and a half of the season, Port Adelaide was flying and players in teal were propping up SuperCoach teams across the nation.
But the Hinkley honeymoon is over. The Port boys have hit the wall and that means they are ripe for trading in SuperCoach.
Plenty of SuperCoaches are already hitting the trade button, with Ollie Wines the most traded out player this week, followed by Jake Neade, Lewis Stevenson and Hamish Hartlett.
The good news is they have done their job, with rookies going up in price by over $100,000 - now is the time to cash them in and use the profit to buy some big names who are available at bargain prices.
The bad news is we can't get rid of them all at once. And with the break-evens rising fast, some are set to lose cash in coming weeks. Here are our Port punt priorities, with some tips on who to trade them for.
OLLIE WINES ($367,100 mid)
Price rise: $197,600
Average: 86
Break-even: 86
Average is boosted by two 100+ scores in the first three rounds - he hasn't scored more than 91 in the past four weeks, with his scores steadily dropping each week.
Trade to: If you've got $84,000 you can go straight to Matt Priddis, who has bottomed out after his concussion-affected score of five three weeks ago. With a break-even of 61, he'll never be this cheap again! The alternative is to trade down to a rookie and make a stack of cash - the best option on the bubble this week is Gold Coast's Jesse Lonergan ($139,500). That move will give you $227,600 to spend somewhere else on the field.
LEWIS STEVENSON ($278,600 def)
Price rise: $162,700
Average: 65
Break-even: 77
Two scores in the 40s in the past two weeks (at the worst possible time when we had to play him as cover for Gibbs and Goodes). Had 30 at quarter-time on Saturday and finished with 48.
Trade to: Look to trade up your defensive rookies. Grant Birchall is a steal at $494,900 while Paul Duffield is just $469,800 and coming off a 137 against Collingwood.
CAMPBELL HEATH ($271,800 def)
Price rise: $155,900
Average: 65
Break-even: 70
Another with two scores in the 40s in the past two weeks and was subbed off just after halftime on Saturday which doesn't bode well for his job security.
Trade to: See above. No rookies coming through in defence this week, but if you have to trade down you could take a punt on Jackson Thurlow, who impressed on debut for the Cats, but be warned he's no guarantee to keep his spot. Lion Justin Clarke went up more than $50k last week but he's still affordable at $172k and will go up again (break-even -55).
JASPER PITTARD ($235,700 def)
Price rise: $107,700
Average: 76
Break-even: 22
Pittard presents a different problem to his teammates. With a low break-even he can still make us money, but only if he gets back on the field. Has been ruled out again for Sunday's clash against Carlton, making it four weeks out with a hip flexor injury.
Trade to: Hold if you can. If you need to trade, see Stevenson, Heath.
JAKE NEADE ($282,200 fwd/mid)
Price rise: $165,300
Average: 64
Break-even: 77
Hadn't dropped below 60 until last week when he delivered a stinky 28. Could get a rest any day now.
Trade to: Lance Franklin is the bargain of the week at just $459,500 and with matches against GWS, Gold Coast and Melbourne in the next three weeks. Again, not a lot of trade-down options in the forward line - Magpie Ben Kennedy is on the bubble but don't commit before seeing the teams tomorrow night.
JUSTIN WESTHOFF ($469,300 fwd)
Price rise: $38,600
Average: 105
Break-even: 164
Jumped $74k in the first four rounds and has dropped $66k since then. We enjoyed the ride, now it's time to jump off the Hoff!
Trade to: Straight swap to Buddy is a no-brainer. If you already have Franklin, Dale Thomas isn't as cheap as last week but still good value at $452,600.
HAMISH HARTLETT ($498,400 def/mid)
Price rise: $9400
Average: 92
Break-even: 218
Followed up two scores of 140-plus in a row with a 53 then a putrid 29. Has he been found out?
Trade to: If you've got Hamish, stick with him. Those early-season scores can't be a complete fluke and there isn't really anyone worth trading him to.
