The football season is ready to take off and the excitement was obvious when the entire Fox Footy crew gathered for their season launch in the city yesterday.
But there was one member who was still trying to keep his head in the summer months.

Hawthorn legend Dermott Brereton has had to shuffle his commentary duties for Round 1 given he has cricket commitments.
Brereton is captaining the fourth X1 for Heatherhill Cricket Club this weekend as they go for back-to-back flags,
“Local cricket is fantastic, I started playing again after a hiatus of 20 odd years and it’s great fun,” he said.
ARL Commission chairman Peter Beattie has found himself embroiled in a Twitter controversy that has resulted in calls for him to resign.
To give it some relevance, let’s put it into AFL speak.
Imagine AFL chairman Richard Goyder getting on Twitter to laud the magnificence of watching footy at the Whitten Oval.
And then a parody account of Footscray legend Ted Whitten responds, commenting: “Isn’t she just a beauty Richard.”
Goyder, who appears to think Whitten is still alive, posts: “Good to see you are well Teddy. Good win for the Bulldogs today.”
That would be a monumental gaffe and it gives context to the mess Beattie has found himself in.
The ARL boss had been attending the Wests Tigers clash with Manly on Saturday when he made the remark about how good it was to be at Leichhardt Oval.
He then responded to a parody account of legendary Balmain fan Laurie Nicholls who was famously known for wearing singlets and shadow-boxing on the sidelines.
Nicholls died in 2000 which is why former Balmain players were outraged at Beattie’s Twitter performance. The former Queensland Premier has since deleted his account.
Forme Hawthorn and West Coast star Xavier Ellis has emerged as one of the better social media operators in the AFL world.
His latest effort reveals a very funny fact about his time at the Eagles.
Ellis found an update West Coast captain Shannon Hurn had given about the club’s new draftees, one of whom is named Xavier O’Neill.
Hurn said his nickname was ‘Skinny X’ and explained why: “We had Xavier Ellis from Hawthorn and he was known as ‘Fat X’ so Xavier is known as ‘Skinny X’.”
Ellis tweeted the comments and added: “Fat shaming is a real thing @WestCoastEagles”
