DEBATE is set to rage about what pose Kevin Bartlett’s statue should have outside the MCG.

The Richmond great has been named as the 16th sportsperson to be honoured with a statue outside the famous ground.

Bartlett was told last week with Melbourne Cricket Club CEO Stephen Gough making it public on KB’s morning show on SEN on Wednesday.

It set off a tsunami of talkback about what the five-time premiership player should be doing in his pose.

Bartlett, with tongue firmly in cheek, suggested a left-handed handball, which went down well given he was renowned throughout his 403-game career for never actually registering a handball.

The overwhelming response was for Bartlett’s famous victory salute with two arms raised above his head although there was even a suggestion a fish and chip wrapper should be at his feet given that was his Friday night ritual before every game.

He did do a skit for Channel 10’s Before the Game show back in 2013 with a pose he thought would work.

Bartlett’s bronze statue will be placed in the Avenue of Honour alongside Norm Smith, John Coleman, Neil Harvey and Jim Stynes.

It’s expected to be unveiled before the start of next season.

SHOWING RAFA SOME LOVE

SOME serious love for Rafael Nadal from tennis legend Andre Agaassi.

The eight-time grand slam champion penned a letter to Nadal about his phenomenal record on clay at Roland Garros and posted it online.

Agassi labels the Spaniard “inspiring” and “remarkable”.

“It took me most of my career to accomplish the herculean task of winning the French Open one time,” Agassi wrote.

“Watching you attempt to win it for the tenth time is not only remarkable ... it is inspiring.

“You make me believe in life that anything is achievable and nothing is impossible. Go get ’em.”

The letter will be posted at the Nike store in Paris along with hundreds of other tributes to the Spaniard as he tries to improve on his stunning record at the French Open.

Agassi won the French Open in 1999 when he defeated Ukrainian Andrei Medvedev, coming back from two sets down to win a five-set thriller.
