Out-of-contract Port Adelaide forward Charlie Dixon has been grilled on his future at the club after Adelaide football director Mark Ricciuto bizarrely commented on the 29-year-old’s future.

Speaking on his Triple M Adelaide radio show on Monday, Ricciuto suggested Dixon was being chased by the Brisbane Lions, who he says have offered the star forward a four-year deal.

Appearing on Fox Sports News on Wednesday night, Dixon was asked if it was odd for an official at an opposition club was commenting on his future.

“Yeah, I suppose, but what else have they got to talk about down here? People are going to talk, that’s what you guys do, you speculate in the media,” Dixon said on AFL Tonight.

“You’ve got to talk about something. Yeah, whatever, I don’t really mind.”

When asked what he thought of the deal being bandied around by Brisbane, Dixon quipped “four (million) over four year or something like that, sounds pretty good doesn’t it?”

Dixon was then asked whether his manager, Vivid Sport Management’s Peter Blucher, had been speaking with other clubs about his future.

“Not that I’m aware of,” he said.

“At this stage I’m just going to keep playing footy and keep moving forward and hopefully that stuff will come to a head.”

Finally, when asked whether he’ll be at Port Adelaide next year, Dixon suggested his future should be under Ken Hinkley.

“I think so,” he said.

“I’ve been here for a while now and hopefully it all gets sorted out and I can be.”
