The jumper — which has a red back with white numbers and could force opponent Sydney into its clash jumper — has divided supporters.
Club legend Doug Hawkins said he wouldn’t have played “one game in it”.
“Footy has changed and society has changed,” Hawkins said on SEN.
“I am living back in the ‘80s when we were all playing footy and we probably wouldn’t do that. We wouldn’t wear a jumper like that.”
Hawkins said he hoped the jumper change was a one-off.
“If it’s a one off thing for a promotion to promote the club, the game or sponsors and stuff like that, you’d do it,” he said.
“But you wouldn’t wear it more than once, surely?”
AFLW teams were going to wear superhero jumpers at Saturday’s Marvel Stadium double-header to promote the release of the new Captain Marvel movie.

But after the gimmick drew backlash from fans they were only worn during warm-ups.
Thor character Chris Hemsworth — who has more than 30 million social media followers — is a Dogs fan and was pictured in the club’s jumper during the 2016 finals.
“The club worked closely with the players to come up with the design of the guernsey, and it has been enthusiastically supported by the playing group,” Wood said.
“Kids see us as superheroes and role models, just as they see the Marvel characters on the big screen, and now we can combine the two through footy, which is a unique and exciting opportunity.”
The initiative is set to deliver the Dogs a huge financial return and Wood said it was driven by chief commercial officer Nick Truelson.
Not sure whose 'brand' this cheapens more, the Bulldogs' or Thor's. pic.twitter.com/JW7ulz5uHv

I get the Bulldogs doing the Thor jumper, nice little cash insertion or whatever and Chris Hemsworth is a doggies fan. But goes a long way to making the game look tacky #AFL

And why would they have the back predominantly red if they're playing Sydney in Round One? ð¤¦ââï¸
What genius decided to try and market Marvel Stadium by having Western Bulldogs wear a Thor inspired jumper when they wear red white and blue. Why not a Captain America inspired one?
