EVERYONE is getting caught up in the emotion of the Western Bulldogs’ historic premiership win, even Geelong great Billy Brownless who’s predicting an influx of Bulldog babies.
Brownless has headed to Whitten Oval for the Bulldgos’ celebrations the day after the win, with the players to be presented to fans in front of thousands that have packed the club’s headquarters.
A pumped up Brownless knows the enormity of a drought-breaking premiership, after witnessing Geelong break a 44-year one in 2007.
And ever tongue-in-cheek, he says there might be some new little Bulldogs running around in nine months time as supporters celebrate the win.
“It is unbelievable. Here they all are here,” Brownless screamed as fans erupted.
“The west has gone mad. They have gone mad. This is what it’s all about. It’s all about the fans and they are feral.
“Let me tell you in nine months time there’s going to be that many kids born at the Western General Hospital it will not be funny.”
Dressed in a Bulldogs guernsey and beanie, Brownless was right in the thick of the celebrations and paid tribute to club president Peter Gordon and vice-president Susan Alberti, who was among the thousands packing Whitten Oval.
“They’re all here, Susan Alberti there she’s a star. She saved this club along with others (like) Peter Gordon,” he said.
“But they have just gone mad out here so have I. This is what it’s all about. It’s fantastic ... Go the Doggies.”
