Graham, the club’s forward coach, assumed the senior coaching role and guided the Eagles to a thumping win over the Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium.
“I did give him a quick call. He was at the bedside watching ‘Minions’ or something,” Graham said post-match.
“He’s very proud of the performance of the players ... I’d say he watched the match.
“I haven’t got an update on Elsa but he seemed pretty happy so hopefully everything’s fine.”
Before the game Graham said there wasn’t much disruption for the players despite the late changed and that proved correct as the Eagles were dominant against a disappointing Bulldogs team.
“We have tried to keep it as normal as possible,” he told Channel 7. “A slight shuffle but we are all there to play the role.
“All the prep has been done throughout the week so it is really over to the players.
We are all thinking of his daughter and his family and he has done the right thing.
“He is a family first man and he has had to get home and support them.
