Jamie Elliott is weighing up whether to leave Collingwood.
Collingwood star Jamie Elliott remains unsure where he will continue his AFL career next season following a key meeting with Magpies football chief Geoff Walsh.
Elliott, who is an unrestricted free agent, played 16 games this season after missing all of 2018 through injury and is believed to have attracted interest from Melbourne and Hawthorn.
He said on Thursday he still hoped to stay at Collingwood and a decision was likely in coming days.
The 27-year-old, who also missed all of the 2016 season with back and hamstring injuries, was intent on returning to form on the field before picking up talks on a new contract.
“I probably wasn’t happy with my first half of the year then was interrupted (by injury) during the middle of the year, so I wanted to put it off until the end of the year,” he said.
“I signed a one-year contract last year to, I suppose, put everyone at ease when I came back this year.
“I said that I wanted to chat at the end of the year and we did ... I played a little bit of good footy and here we are.”
Jamie Elliott has attracted interest from Hawthorn and Melbourne.
Elliott has won Collingwood’s leading goalkicker award twice but the club faces a tricky task to satisfy his contract needs while also signing stars Brodie Grundy and Jordan De Goey, who will command highly lucrative extensions.
“He’s got a few options, he’s a good player,” Elliott’s manager Adam Ramanauskas told RSN.
“The thing with Jamie, I’ve been speaking with Collingwood all year.
Hawthorn is one of the clubs which has shown interest in Jamie Elliott.
“Jamie has never wanted to engage until he was playing some sort of decent football. For whatever reason that came later in the season. “So the talks have only really just started a couple of weeks ago.”

Carlton is set to secure Eddie Betts for one of the last picks in the 2019 national draft, with Adelaide expected to pay some of his wage.
But the Blues still have to make significant progress with trade targets Jack Martin and Tom Papley to round out their trio of small forward acquisitions.
Betts, 33 in November, looks set to find his way back to Carlton in a late trade that will see Adelaide saving cap space and also changing the demographic of their list.
It means they could contribute some part of his 2020 wage, given they were on the hook for all of it if he remained at the Crows.
The financial component is the last hurdle for Betts’ move to the Blues given there is a willingness to put him on the Carlton list again.

Orazio Fantasia has arrived in Adelaide as speculation rages he will ask for a trade to South Australia.
The future of the 24-year-old livewire forward has been one of the main talking points this off-season, with Fantasia now expected to request a move back to his home state.
After parting ways with his manager, and silence at Essendon’s best-and-fairest night as to whether he would stay a Bomber, Fantasia touched down in Adelaide on Thursday.
When asked at Adelaide Airport what was the purpose of his trip to SA, Fantasia said it was just a family visit.
But he did not answer when asked if he would be playing for Essendon next year.

Seventy-six players have moved clubs as free agents since Brendon Goddard became the first big name to exercise his rights under the new concept in 2012.
Goddard has been followed by superstars, players squeezed out by tight salary caps and battlers hoping for better luck elsewhere.
Then there are the delisted free agents who have found a lifeline at a new home, some of whom have turned out to be huge bargains while others have disappeared without a trace (remember Demon recruits Tom Gillies and Ben Newton?).
Shane Edwards has put pen to paper on a new deal with Richmond. The 30-year-old has signed with the premiers for another two years.
Edwards took his consistent form to even greater heights in 2019, finishing second in the Jack Dyer Medal. Meanwhile, as reported in the Herald Sun last month, Marlion Pickett has also signed a new deal. “We’re so proud of both Shane and Marlion, they’ve both had unique seasons in their own right,” Richmond list boss Blair Hartley said. “Shane has been with us on a long journey, and he continues to step up in both a performance and leadership capacity when we need him. “Marlion’s hard work and dedication has led him to Richmond, and we’re so proud of him for grabbing his opportunity with both hands.”
Gary Ablett is playing on next year. The Geelong great confirmed the news today. “I believe I can still meet, and to an extent exceed my own expectations, and it is for that reason why I have agreed to terms with Geelong and penned a new deal to extend my career for a 19th season," he told exclusiveinsight.com
"I have no doubt in my mind that as a team we’re capable of winning the Premiership next year which is why I’ve decided to go around again.
"I’ll be putting in a lot of hard work during the offseason to give myself the best opportunity to play my role well and perform at the level that I know that I can.
"But this is it. Next season…will be my last in the game.”

Top Port Adelaide father-son prospect Jackson Mead says the club is playing its cards close to its chest and not making any promises about making him a Power player next month.
Mead — in Melbourne for the AFL draft combine — met with Port officials on Wednesday but said they had not guaranteed drafting him, although this appears likely.
“There’s no promises,’’ Mead said.
“It was my first formal meeting with them and they didn't give too much away, it was more of a general conversation.
“I know it's a possibility to go there and I hope to have a more formal chat with them after the trade period but at this stage I haven't been given any guarantees.’’
Last year Richmond was a big free agency winner when the Tigers landed Tom Lynch. Now they are in the mix for a high pick coming back the other way after Brandon Ellis’ exit. Is that fair? On today’s episode of Trade TV, Sam Edmund and Jon Ralph debate what Ellis will net the Tigers, while also breaking down all the latest trade and free agency news. Tune in below.
