Rioli, 20, injured his left foot in the final quarter and will require surgery in the coming days.

He is expected to be back running after Christmas and was the only casualty for the Tigers in the club’s 48-point win over Adelaide.

Rioli was in a moon boot on Saturday night and was carried around the MCG on skipper Trent Cotchin’s shoulders during the post-match lap of honour.

He kicked four goals in the preliminary final win over Greater Western Sydney and became the fourth Rioli to play in a VFL/AFL Grand Final after cousins Cyril and Dean, as well as grandfather Maurice.

There were no charges laid by the match review panel after a review of the Tigers-Crows clash.
