RICHMOND midfielder Kane Lambert has a scary warning for the rest of the AFL.

The premiership Tiger has declared the club will only get better in 2018.

While some sceptics may be anticipating a lull after the club finally broke its 37 year premiership drought, Lambert believes the way Richmond finished the 2017 season means more success is on the way.

Richmond’s average winning margin over the last five weeks of the season was a whopping 56 points.

EIGHT REASONS: WHY TIGERS CAN GO BACK-TO-BACK

The closest any team got to the Tigers throughout the finals was six goals.

“We are really excited about the growth we feel we have in our group,” Lambert said on SEN radio.

“We feel we played our best footy towards the back end of last year, but we also still felt that we could play better.

“Whilst last year was such an amazing year, we still feel that our best footy is ahead of us.”

After modelling some of their premiership winning game plan on the Western Bulldogs of 2016, Lambert expects a number of rival clubs to embrace the Tigers’ style this year.

For most of last season, key forward Jack Riewoldt played one out as the main target inside 50 and was surrounded by small forwards.

The Tigers also used Shaun Grigg in the ruck rather than a traditional second ruckman.

“There will be elements of opposition clubs that take out some things of the way that we play,” Lambert said.

“I know that we did a similar thing with the way that the Bulldogs play. It will be interesting to see if clubs structure up differently with their forward line.

“We might even do it different this year — whether or not we play another tall or just stay small.”

The Tigers will kick off their premiership defence against Carlton in Round 1 before a Grand Final replay against the Crows the following week.
