RICHMOND fan favourite Jack Higgins said last night that “life couldn’t get any better” as the Round 18 Rising Star prepares to line up against Collingwood in Saturday’s top-four blockbuster at the MCG.
Higgins, 19, became the Tigers’ fourth small forward to earn a Rising Star nomination in the past two years, after premiership players Daniel Rioli, Dan Butler and Jason Castagna.

Superstar Jack Riewoldt announced Higgins’ recognition at yesterday’s game review of Friday night’s 54-point win against St Kilda.
“I thought (Riewoldt) was going to say something about Maddie’s Match, like how much they raised, and then he’s like, ‘Oh, we’ve got a new Rising Star — well done, Higgo’,” Higgins said.

“They wanted me to make a speech but I didn’t make a speech, I sat down quickly. I don’t like doing speeches.
“I can’t believe it, I’m playing AFL for Richmond. It’s so surreal and my life couldn’t be any better at the moment.
“Playing in front of 90,000 people on a Saturday afternoon, I don’t think life gets much better. I’m so excited for it — can’t wait. I am loving it.”
Higgins booted 1.1 from 18 disposals against the Saints after he was drafted at pick No.17 last year.
