RICHMOND’S VFL Grand Final will almost certainly be Anthony Miles’ last game with the Tigers as rival clubs chase the clearance specialist.

Miles has been largely overlooked in the Tigers’ campaign despite finishing fourth (2015) and sixth (2016) in the past two Jack Dyer Medals.

At just 25 and with elite clearance statistics, he is certain to move on to a club where he can play regular senior games.

He was best afield with 34 disposals in the VFL preliminary final win against Box Hill but has not played AFL since Round 20.

His chances of an AFL recall would rest on a preliminary final injury to a Tigers star rather than continued good form.

Clubs including Essendon, Carlton, West Coast and Brisbane need to build the engine room of their midfields and are likely to be among the contenders for his services.

He has averaged 32 disposals, 15 contested possessions and eight clearances at VFL level this year, all in the elite bracket.

Miles was promoted to play Gold Coast in Round 19 and had 23 disposals, eight clearances and eight tackles, but was dropped a game later.

He has been told his lack of versatility has counted against him in a midfield where many players can push forward or play half-back.

Anthony Miles has played only five games for Richmond this season.

The Tigers have secured most of their big-name stars for future seasons after signing Dustin Martin on a seven-year deal.

They seem certain to re-sign Jacob Townsend after a star cameo late in the season as an accountable forward on a goalkicking hot streak.

The Tigers will also look to extend Shai Bolton’s contract past 2018 with manager Ralph Carr after a first year of growth.

He has played only six AFL games after being recruited with pick 29 in last year’s draft, but showed flashes of brilliance.

He is likely to play in the VFL Grand Final rather than AFL preliminary final but is pushing hard to replace one of the club’s fleet of small forwards.

Ivan Maric has retired and Ben Lennon seems destined for the trade table again after failing to win a regular place in the AFL.

Shaun Hampson and Sam Lloyd are contracted for 2018, with the ex-Carlton ruckman back in solid VFL form after recovering from a serious back injury.

Lloyd has banged down the selection door with solid VFL performances but the last of his eight AFL games this year was in Round 16.
