PORT Adelaide star Robbie Gray has been diagnosed with testicular cancer.
The three-time best-and-fairest winner has had post-season surgery to remove the tumour and will undergo a short course of precautionary chemotherapy, according to the Power.
The club expects he will make a full recovery and be ready to start pre-season training in November.
Port Adelaide club doctor Mark Fisher said the surgery was a success but the treatment was still important.
“The chemotherapy is a preventive measure to significantly reduce the chance of cancer returning,” he told the club website.
Power football manager Chris Davies said the club was doing whatever it could to support Gray.
“Robbie’s health and wellbeing is, as always, the most important thing to us,” he said.
“We are thankful the surgery went as well as it could have.
“The treatment isn’t expected to interfere with Robbie’s ability to begin pre-season training in November.”
