PORT ADELAIDE is still waiting for a reply from contracted Melbourne key position player Jack Watts amid unsubstantiated speculation the Demon has chosen the Power as his preferred club in the AFL trade period.

Power list manager Jason Cripps was unaware of Watts’ intentions as Port Adelaide was the first of the 18 league clubs to arrive at Etihad Stadium on Monday morning for the opening of trade talks.

Watts, 26, is on Monday expected to meet with Sydney and tour the Swans facilities as he continues to assess his options which include Port Adelaide and Geelong.

But speculation the 153-game Demon already has chosen Port Adelaide — to answer the Power’s need for more goalkicking power and second-ruck depth — appears premature.

“I don’t have any more information on Jack; I’ll talk to his manager Paul Connors at some stage — I expect an answer this week,” Cripps said. (Geelong free agent Steven Motlop) is similar to Jack — we are waiting on confirmation of what Steven’s intention are.”

Motlop is to meet with Adelaide on Monday with the Crows to make the best offer reaching $600,000-a-season to leave the Cats.

Cripps is prepared to meet with Hawthorn to arrange a trade for contracted forward Jarman Impey.

“We’ll look at what works for Jarman, but more importantly the football club,” Cripps said.

Brisbane football chief — and former Crows football leader — David Noble arrived at the trade talks refusing to publicly discuss the Lions’ move on contracted Crows speedster Charlie Cameron. And he dismissed Brisbane making a move on contracted Port Adelaide ruckman Matthew Lobbe.

Cameron quit Adelaide last week — despite having next season to serve on his contract — asking for a trade to Queensland and specifically the Lions for “compassionate” reasons.

“We know Charlie has informed Adelaide (his wish to move); we’ll respect that and negotiate behind the scenes,” Noble said. “We not (publicly) discussing anything about Charlie Cameron; he is a contracted player.”

Of Lobbe who is a long-term deal with the Power, Noble said: “I don’t know where that has come from ... that’s an interesting one.”
