TOM Rockliff is now a Port Adelaide player.
Brisbane on Wednesday afternoon formally released the former Lions captain to take up his free-agency offer with the Power.
Brisbane will get a compensation pick at the end of the first round of next month’s draft (No. 18) for the 27-year-old Victorian.
Port Adelaide filed its paperwork on Tuesday for the 2011 and 2014 Brisbane club champion. The Lions on Wednesday opted not to match the Power’s offer, allowing Rockliff to take up a four-year deal at Alberton.
Rockliff issued a statement on Wednesday afternoon saying: “I met with (coach) Ken Hinkley, (captain) Travis Boak and some other key people at Port Adelaide after the season and was really impressed.”
Rockliff also was courted by Carlton.
“(Port Adelaide) can be great for me as a footballer,” added Rockliff. “And I have a lot to offer the club too.
“Port Adelaide is coming off a strong season and everyone is optimistic about what we can achieve in 2018.”
