NORTH Melbourne speedster Jed Anderson could miss the start of the season after suffering a serious shoulder injury at training last week.

Anderson had surgery on Monday and will be out of action for up to six weeks after damaging the AC joint in his right shoulder.

He is unlikely to take any part in the JLT Community Series but North is confident the small forward will resume full training in four to six weeks.

North Melbourne’s opening home-and-away match is on March 26 against West Coast.

Anderson has had a luckless run with injury over his 20-match AFL career.

He played just 10 of a possible 23 games in first season with North Melbourne last year after ripping his hamstring in Round 1.

A shoulder reconstruction sidelined Anderson for the entire 2014 season when he was at Hawthorn.
