AFL 2017 - the best bits

TRYING to predict the AFL ladder is always a dangerous business.

That hasn’t stopped some experts and fans from trying to forecast the final finishing order for 2018 already — and one supporter has had enough.

La Trobe University sports journalism student Mitchell Keating’s timely and hilarious plea has gone viral, with almost 800 retweets and 3000 likes since it was posted on December 29 — impressive numbers considering he has 118 followers on the social media platform.

The flood of replies are a mix of praise — one labelled it a (very) late candidate for tweet of the year — and outrage from North Melbourne fans.

The Roos hammered Brisbane in the final round of 2017 to avoid the wooden spoon but are in full rebuild mode following the departure of more experienced players including Andrew Swallow, Lindsay Thomas, Sam Gibson and Aaron Mullett.

TAB has North Melbourne at $6 to make the eight next season — ahead of Carlton ($9), Brisbane ($9) and Gold Coast ($13). The Roos are fourth-favourite to record the most losses, priced at $7 behind the Blues, Suns (both $3.50) and Lions ($5.50).
