THREE starstruck Demons partied with NBA megastar LeBron James in New York City on Sunday night (AEDT), according to former Melbourne champion Garry Lyon.
Lyon said the chance encounter with Cleveland Cavalier James began hours earlier in Philadelphia when Christian Petracca, Dom Tyson and James Harmes sat courtside watching Petracca’s long-time friend Ben Simmons go to work for the 76ers against Dallas Mavericks.
After the game Simmons, who played junior basketball with Petracca in Melbourne’s outer eastern suburbs, invited the trio to join him for the two-hour drive to New York City, where the No.1 NBA draft pick owns an apartment.
“(They went to the bar and got) ushered straight through (with) Ben Simmons — hottest young sporting talent in the country — straight through into the private booth with Lebron,” Lyon told SEN.
“There’s LeBron having a glass of red, cigar (and) Petracca, Tyson, LeBron ... just sitting there thinking does life get any better than this?”
Simmons has taken the NBA by storm in his rookie season, averaging 17 points, 9.5 rebounds and 7.5 assists through the first six games.
He became the first Australian to post a triple-double — in just his fourth NBA game.
