JARRYD Roughead is intent on playing on next year despite calls for him to consider his future.
Brownlow Medallist Adam Cooney has questioned whether the Hawks captain might follow the club’s trio of ageing stars premiership in moving on at year’s end.
Roughead had 13 possessions and kicked a solitary behind against Brisbane, having kicked 25 goals in 16 games this year.
Coach Alastair Clarkson has repeatedly backed in Roughead’s role and leadership in another Hawks season of transition.

His good mate Jordan Lewis said on Friday night on Fox Footy he was sure Roughead, contracted for 2019, would play on next year.
But Cooney said he had seen worrying signs from the Hawks star, who turns 32 next January.
“He kicked four last week and I thought maybe he’s back, but I think he’s started to slow down,” Cooney said.
“He re-signed in March of this year for next year, so he’s signed until the end of 2019, but they ended Luke Hodge with some footy left in him, they finished Sam Mitchell with footy left in him and they moved on Jordan Lewis.
“Clarkson is ruthless in these decisions, especially with his premiership stars.
“I think they’ve got to make a real hard pitch to get Tom Lynch into their football club and where does that leave Roughead? I’m not too sure.
“He hasn’t had a great season and he does look like he’s slowing down.”
Former St Kilda captain Danny Frawley told SEN opponent Josh Walker had beaten him comprehensively.
“Did Josh Walker nearly put a big question mark on Jarryd Roughead’s career?” Frawley said.
“He just didn’t look like it. He seriously didn’t. It’s not a full stop on his career, but he’s lost his jump.”
