Former Hawthorn captain Jarryd Roughead dropped as Bombers rest Joe Daniher
Hawthorn dropped a selection bombshell by ditching veteran forward and former captain Jarryd Roughead, and now two others have paid the price for their performance against the Demons. SEE SUNDAY’S FINAL SQUADS

Hawthorn sensationally dropped former skipper Jarryd Roughead but he’ll be joined by some familiar faces as coach Alastair Clarkson further swung the selection axe.
Kaiden Brand and Daniel Howe have also been dumped for Sunday’s clash against GWS, taking the number of changes from last week’s loss to the Demons to four.

And there’ll be plenty of eyes on team sheets on Sunday with Geelong naming Joel Selwood as an emergency.
The Cats skipper had been expected to be named after Chris Scott said he was available, but at this stage he remains outside the selected 22. Only Zach Tuohy is back, but expect some further changes.
Patrick Dangerfield remains under an injury cloud, while Gary Ablett is another who could be rested.
At the Hawks, Roughead will try desperately to seek form in the VFL.
Roughead, a four-time premiership player with the Hawks, collected just eight touches and one mark in last weekend’s narrow loss.
“When I had the discussions with Clarko all the way back to August last year, I knew that my form and the team’s form were probably going to decide where I was going to be playing,” Roughead said on Channel 7.
“Obviously form hasn’t stacked up to where it needs to be the last couple of weeks, so I go back to Box Hill and see what happens from there on.”

TIPS: EXPERTS NOT GIVING HAWKS A CHANCE
The 32-year-old will play for Box Hill for the first time in more than seven years.
“Jarryd has been such an incredible contributor within our football club for the best part of 15 years,” Hawthorn football boss Graham Wright said.
“By his own admission, his recent form hasn’t been up to the standard he sets for himself.
“He’s the ultimate professional, so we know he’ll continue to push for selection via the VFL and keep looking for ways to improve.”
Star Hawks recruit Chad Wingard will also miss the clash with the Giants due to a hamstring complaint.
“Chad presented with a minor hamstring issue following last week’s game and we don’t want to take the risk,” Wright said.
“We’ve opted to take a cautious approach and we’re hopeful he’ll be right to go next week.”
James Frawley will return after a hamstring injury.
Essendon has elected to rest Joe Daniher, with the key forward to benefit from a week’s rest after three-straight games and a five-day turnaround.
“We monitor him extremely closely at the moment, so taking everything into account, the best scenario for Joe is that he doesn’t play on Friday,” coach John Worsfold said.
Zac Clarke will return to boost the Bombers’ tall stocks.
“We need some tall players; we’ve unfortunately had some injuries to a lot of our talls,” Worsfold said.
“Zac will spend some time in the ruck and some time up forward and compete for us, give us a good target to go to and help bring the ball to ground for us.”
COLLINGWOOD is without midfield with star Dayne Beams for Saturday’s clash against Carlton at the MCG.
Beams was unable to join his teammates for training today after pulling up sore in the hip from last week’s win over Port Adelaide.
Chris Mayne returns for Collingwood, just four weeks after suffering a broken back against the Bulldogs.
BRISBANE have welcomed back vice-captain Harris Andrews for a potential showdown with man of the moment Aaron Naughton.
The Bulldogs teenager set the AFL world abuzz last weekend when he booted five goals in an upset victory over Richmond.
Andrews has missed two weeks with a hamstring injury he suffered in the Easter Thursday loss to Collingwood and although the Lions won both games he missed, Fagan said the days of him having to work his way back to the side through the NEAFL were long gone.
Fagan was coy on who would line-up on the 195cm Naughton but with Josh Walker a surprise omission from the side that defeated Sydney at the Gabba on Saturday it leaves Andrews or Darcy Gardiner as the most suitable opponents.
Lewy Taylor has also been dropped making way for speedy half back Zac Bailey.
Bailey played in the NEAFL last week on his return from a hamstring injury.
GOLD Coast’s desire for an injection of pace has led to the rush recall of a trio of speedsters for Saturday’s clash with Melbourne at Metricon Stadium.
Pearce Hanley is an obvious inclusion after a week out with bruising but it selection of Lachie Weller and Sean Lemmens that could be considered a gamble.
Weller has bypassed the NEAFL after a month out with a hamstring injury while Lemmens made just one appearance in the lower grade after two months out of action following ankle surgery to repair an injury from the opening game of the JLT Series.
Jack Lukosius has also come into the side with Aaron Young and Brayden Fiorini out with minor knee injuries and George Horlin-Smith and Jesse Joyce both dropped.
