HAWTHORN has lost a third premiership star for its Easter Monday’s clash with Geelong after Bradley Hill was ruled out with a suspected broken wrist.
But Hawks enforcer Jordan Lewis is confident the reigning premier will measure up to the red-hot Cats despite losing a wealth of experience.
Lewis confirmed Hawks speedster Hill would miss the Easter Monday.–
“I don’t know the finer details of it (but) hopefully it’s not too bad and he won’t miss too many games of football,” Lewis told AFL 360.
Jarryd Roughead (knee) and Liam Shiels (wrist) have also been sidelined with injuries.
“It’s exciting, and we may see a debutant, we may not,” Lewis said.
“I think the thing that we’ve prided ourselves on is our depth.
“We rely on our system not just one player in one player out.”
Lewis will be ready to tackle Geelong after overcoming a calf issue.
He worked solidly in an intra-club clash on Monday, having missed the final NAB Challenge clash with North Melbourne.
“I had a tight calf for about a week there so my first hitout back was three quarters and then a running session afterwards, so it’s nice to be alive again,” Lewis told the Hawks website.
“I pulled up really well and I’m looking forward to Monday.”
Veteran defender Grant Birchall has overcome an ankle issue while Billy Hartung (knee), Taylor Duryea (hip) and Luke Breust (jaw) also took part in Monday’s session.
