But the tight-knit start-up club has indicated it won’t be going down without a fight and has released a provocative call to arms video, urging the Giants’ 30,000 members to get behind the embattled team.
“A story that’s all heart,” reads captain Callan Ward in an impassioned script.
“What it means to be a Giant. Resilient from the start. Who are we you might ask? We are the drive west on the M4. Canberra Avenue down to Manuka. The orange army roar.
“ … We’re young and bold, we have to be. We do it different in the west. The club is like no other.”

Big changes are being speculated out west if the team doesn’t find another gear and fire in September.
But GWS aren’t lying down.
Injured skipper Ward’s words are accompanied by emotive images including vision of several Giants players standing up to Swans colossus Lance Franklin.
Perhaps the most rousing moment is when Ward says, “those who are here are here by choice” and pictures are shown of superstar Josh Kelly, who chose to knock back lucrative offers from Melbourne to re-sign earlier this year.
The club hopes Stephen Coniglio will be inspired to also put pen to paper in coming days, a move that would remove a lot of outside noise for the club heading into the finals.
Ward references his own heartbreaking season-ending injury to vision of the moment he did his ACL in Geelong, declaring “sometimes we face a brutal test”.

GWS are set to host a home final against Essendon or the Western Bulldogs in week one at Giants Stadium and are desperate to see the seats filled up after a disappointing turnout to a recent derby against Sydney.
