Callan Ward is in serious doubt for Round 1 after suffering a knee injury.
The Herald Sun understands the GWS co-captain was hurt in the Giants’ JLT win over Sydney on Saturday night, but the injury slipped under the radar.
Ward is currently in Melbourne wearing a brace to stabilise the knee.

The midfielder hasn’t suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament, but definitely won’t play on Friday night against Adelaide and is considered unlikely to be ready for the season-opening game against Essendon on March 24.
GWS is expected to release a statement later today, detailing the severity of Ward’s knee problem.
