“Jason has a proven track record as one of the most highly regarded football administrators in the AFL and we’re delighted he’s joining the club,” said Campbell.
“Jason’s strength is in list management and we feel he will compliment Adrian Caruso and his recruiting team.
“His work in managing the Western Bulldogs’ list and TPP, culminating in the 2016 Premiership, has been outstanding and we feel he will be a perfect addition to the GIANTS’ football department.”
As a player, McCartney played 182 games for Collingwood, Adelaide and North Melbourne over 13 seasons.
Through his role with the AIS/AFL Academy, McCartney has already worked closely with a number of Giants including Dylan Shiel, Jeremy Cameron, Jon Patton, Stephen Coniglio and Lachie Whitfield.
“I would like to sincerely thank everyone at the Western Bulldogs for their support during my time at the club,” McCartney said.
“It has been a great experience, and I’ve made some strong friendships over the last six years.
“An exciting opportunity has presented at Greater Western Sydney for my family and I, and I’m now looking forward to the next chapter of my career.”
