Rodney Eade says he’s not bitter over Gold Coast sacking

SACKED coach Rodney Eade was told by the Suns he had inherited a “s*** sandwich’’, but that didn’t stop the club moving on Eade after three years in the job.

Eade told the Herald Sun today, in his first interview since being told he wouldn’t be on the Gold Coast next year, he was not bitter with the decision.

“I was disappointed, I told them I didn’t agree with the decision but I accept the umpire’s call,’’ Eade said.

“’I’m too experienced and been through a lot to be a bitter, bitter is not an emotion.’’

Asked if he had been give a fair go, Eade said: ‘’ I virtually see this year as being like a first-year coach, my first year in the job, after what happened in the first two years.

“I’d certainly like longer.’’

Suns chief executive Mark Evans told Eade Monday night the board had decided not to renew his contract.

Evans and chairman Tony Cochrane met Eade this morning.

It’s believed the Suns acknowledged Eade’s arrival at the club came after and amid huge upheaval and that the Suns conceded he had been handed a shit sandwich.
